Lake Garda in September

Tuesday 10th Today we went on the bus to Malchesine. This was very busy as the home of the cable car to Monte Baldo so a change of plan and a stroll through the shops to the boat to Limone. The boat ride was not very pleasant, we were in the cabin with a very limited view. We spent the journey eyeing the escape hatch and wondering if we would fit through! Limone, though very pretty was absolutely heaving. We climbed up many, many steps to the Lemon Museum for the view over the town and the lake. Then, time for an ice cream and the decision to return to Malchesine straight away.

This time the boat trip was brilliant, we were had a superb position in the stern and the view was wonderful (rather like Milford Sound NZ).

Lunch in Malchesine at a pleasant bar with an excellent pizza and glass of Bardolino.  Then on to the cable car experience, sorry to report that AP bailed out halfway up due to the combination of the heat and the number of people crammed into the cable car (45 + the driver) so it was a huge relief to be able to get out at the first level and go back down.

The intrepid EJ continued to the summit and although the views were spectacular, she too didn’t enjoy the crammed cable car.

We then had a long wait for the bus which was late and very full, all in all a very long day.
