Lunch was in a church porch sitting on the stone walls and Sally’s gift to us of a lightweight cushion each was a godsend! The terrain was mixed today with some steady ups and some seriously steep downs, luckily some with handrails. The weather was fine today, the wind was very cold but in the sun it was really pleasant.
7. St Catherine’s Point to Ventnor - as a member of a HF guided r(amble)!
Today, as part of our walking holiday, we joined the guided walk with 10 other walkers and our guide Simon…….from Petworth! The coach took to us to St Catherine’s Point and the route took us on and off the coastal path all day, visiting Niton and Whitwell.
The walk finished at Ventnor Botanic Gardens, we didn’t have to pay which was just as well as these were disappointing and certainly not as elegant as they used to be.
Back at the hotel and we were first down to the bar, even after having a shower!
Overheard on the coach this morning:
Guide to fellow walker “see you this evening”.
Walker “are you my guide today?” Do you have my DNR sheet?”
Guide replied “er, no ……. hope to see you tonight then!!”
